Copper Mountain

Last weekend we took Jack's first getaway to Copper Mountain with my parents.  We weren't sure what to expect for his first night out of the house, but we were pleasantly surprised that he slept reasonably well.  The nights before he had worked his way up to almost 9 hours, but we didn't think we'd get lucky enough for that in a new environment... which of course we didn't, he slept about 5 and then 3.  All in all he was really happy and playful, and I think he even enjoyed some new scenery.  My parents found a nice place to stay, and we were grateful to get out of the house for a couple of days.  Of course we forgot to bring his spare bottles, so we had a bit of a late night run to Walmart to get something to feed him out of for his nightly bottle feeding.  It was a good test drive for us as next week we go to the Northwest for a week to see all three of Jack's cousins, and out of town Aunt's and Uncles.  We're pretty excited for that, but I think we'll be a little more careful to check our packing before we leave the house.  

Jack's first trip to the zoo

Jack and I joined my friend Lauren and her 1-year-old son, Camden, on a trip to the zoo.  And Jack obviously had a good time:

Yep, Jack slept the entire time.  From beginning to end, he didn't open his eyes a single time. :)  Camden enjoyed the bears, monkeys and flamingos, and then he fell asleep too. Lauren and I were only at the zoo for a little over an hour, which was a perfect amount of time because it was rather hot out (notice the giraffes taking refuge in the shade).  With school back in session, the crowds were low, and we had a really enjoyable time.  I particularly enjoyed the change of scenery.

Thanks to Lauren for taking us along with them. I definitely look forward to many more zoo trips in the future!

Jack at 2 months old

Yesterday we had Jack's 2 month doctor's appointment.  Nevermind that he's actually now 10 weeks...  Anyway, he is currently 23 inches long (50 %ile), 12 lbs 10.8 oz (55 %ile), and his head circumference is 38.8 cm (50 %ile).  So all around, he's growing really well.  At his 2 week appointment he was 60 %ile for height, 25 %ile for weight and 15 %ile for head circumference, so I feel like we've made big strides in the right direction.  It was such a relief to get confirmation that he's gaining weight well.  I feel like I've worked so hard for every pound, but it's so worth it.  Also at the doctors office, we were able to ask tons of questions, and the PA who met with us was so great taking the time to answer all our questions (and Justin did manage to ask a couple questions she'd never heard before - success!).  She gave me great pointers about nursing and returning to work.  Jack received one immunization shot, and he did so well.  He cried out only for a second, and then returned to feeding, as they let me nurse him at the time of his shot.  He did well the rest of the day yesterday, and seems to be feeling fine today.

Jack has also made some strides developmentally over the past week.  Last Saturday, he began batting at his bug toy that hangs above his Baby Papasan.  He'll grab onto the rings and give them a good shake, watching his bug move.  It's so fun to watch his achievements.  And this is just the beginning...

Bath time favorite

Justin took this photo the other day, and it's just too darn cute.  I really enjoy bath time, and I think Jack does too.

Jack is 8 weeks old

It's hard to believe how quickly time is flying by.  Jack is already 8 weeks old, and quickly getting bigger. He has grown out of all his newborn clothes, and is working quickly on growing out of 3 month clothes.  The sleeper he came home from the hospital wearing sadly no longer fits!  Check it out... 

 

I am quickly realizing that many of the adorable clothes we received as gifts fit NOW, and I need to get Jack in them all! So, that's what I'm doing. And I will admit, I have a new appreciation for rompers, as they are adorable, yet they still have snaps on the bottom.  Shirts are adorable, but I've realized that they tend to ride up. Oh, the things we learn as new parents! :) Anyway, here are a few of my favorites...
